I had an odd week with some training at work, but it worked out so that I had today off. Dawn and I met Rusty at the site this morning with the company building the cabinets.
We got some ideas for the island and layout, and went over the cabinets in the rest of the house (bathrooms) and the built-in cabinet in the living room.
The big takeaway now is that we have to have a good idea soon about which appliances in the kitchen we are getting. Thinks like width of stove or refrigerator determine cabinet dimensions, so it was suggested we get moving quickly on that. I think Dawn and I want to go with a Samsung package anyway, so the vast choices may not be too overwhelming. We were given the name of an appliance store by the cabinet makers, so we're going to see about heading out that way (they are in Durham).
Just as we were leaving, Rusty showed us different metal rook types. There are several options, but typically two for residential--an ag panel and a standing seam. One you see the screws, the other is more expensive. Rusty is going to get rough pricing on both and we'll go from there. We know we want flat black, so that is out of the way.
Overall, effective, just a long day.
