Dawn and I went to Best Tile in Durham this afternoon. All we needed was tile for the bathroom--both the floor and the shower/tub surrounds--and the backsplash in the kitchen.
We got the square footage from Rusty for what was needed and headed over the Best around 2pm.
We got the shower/surround picked out. We ended up picking something darker than in the picture I liked off Houzz (see the Houzz pic here if you are curious. Still 12x24 tiles, two rows of glass tiles (or maybe one row of larger), but the bones are the same.
For the floor, we didn't love anything there, but had something picked out. On the way home, Dawn wanted to stop by Lowes to see what they had that was comparable. They had something that was around half the cost and "close enough" to what Best had. She took a picture, sent it to Rusty, and he is picking up the tile in the next couple of days.
The floor is a little more important since it has to go down before the bathroom cabinet can go in.
Best has contractor's hours listed on their door, so that infers that have contractor rates. At least we hope so. That said, when we finalize what we are getting, we're going to see if Rusty can pick up that tile as well.
Best allows you to "check out" tile like a book from the library, so we got samples of everything. We then stopped by the house and showed Rusty and Tile Guy #2 to give them an idea of what we wanted.
