So as the previous post stated, Dawn and I visited four places last Thursday and Friday.
A few of the items seemed a little over-priced. For example the garden-style kitchen sink. One we had seen in Home Depot or Lowe's (can't remember which) was around $500, maybe $550. At the bath supply store last week, it was $900. Now I can't say if it was the same brand, since a white porcelain garden-style kitchen sink is just a white porcelain garden-style kitchen sink to me. But paying almost double to me doesn't seem to make economical sense.
Some of the lighting was along the same lines. Similar styles at the store were comparable in price to Pottery Barn, which I already know is paying mostly for the name. So does that mean that the ones at the lighting store were overpriced, and could we find them cheaper somewhere else?
And can we? Obviously at the end of the day it is our house and we can do what we want, but does this damage the reputation of the builder who recommended the particular stores as well?
