I met this morning with the tile guy at the build site. Nothing earth-shattering, no big surprises. He has a specific way he does shower tile, and we discussed some of the specifics with the shower.
As I was leaving, Rusty's team was installing the double-door that will (eventually) lead from the living room to the deck. This was the third door that had been delivered to the site, and it turns out that this one was a little longer and taller than the original spacs stated. So I'm not sure if this door was correct, or if the previous two were actual mis-shipments. Maybe this model of door is just bigger.
The guys were in a bit of a rush. Why? Because the framing inspector from the county was on his way, and the door had to be installed. As luck would have it, the electrical and HVAC inspections were earlier this week and passed with flying colors. There was still a little bit of a quetion mark about how the county would handle the open area for the slide.
Well, Rusty later told us there were no kinks at all and everything passed. This is a load off our shoulders. Rusty and I talked several times in the past weeks about the potential inspection pitfalls. But if something would have failed inspection, Rusty would fix it and we'd move on. But, no need for that now.
We also got some details on pricing for the desk. With the wall layout, we could expand the deck two different ways, obviously costing more. Rusty is sending us a sketch of the 3 options, but I'm pretty sure Dawn wants the bigger option already.
After that, I went to the bathroom fixture store. Months ago we had picked out all the faucets, but the boys' were chrome. We needed to change that. We also ditched the body sprays, and I went ahead and picked out sinks for the boys' bathrooms as well as the double vanity in the master bath.
Oh, and how in the world could Rusty forget to tell us this: The roof is done! The roof is done! It's a black metal and shingle roof, so I'm not getting excited over the looks, but I am excited over the fact that it is done. That means the dry wall is the next big milestone. In fact, Rusty went ahead and ordered insulation this afternoon, so that will go in then the dry wall.
We are still lined up to buy our appliances Monday. The tile guy was not too keen on Lowe's tile, but Dawn called him to get some of the specifics. I was up all night working, so his reasoning didn't really sink in.
