To catch you up on the last few days.
So we all went to Asheboro this past Saturday to pick out the granite counter tops. That was pretty straightforward. Depending on availability, we may be able to get a couple of tops from one slab, else we will use some remnants. Anyway, the granite company has all the details as far as which stone goes where. And the kids kind of got to pick out their own sink slabs, so they enjoyed it.
They also had sinks that were undermount that they sell. I'm not crazy about them, but Dawn wanted them at least priced. So more options!
On the way home, Dawn uncovered the folder with the lighting choices. We are likely changing some of the choices now--that was months ago, and they just don't "feel right" anymore. Yay.
We went out to the build site Sunday afternoon to see what had been done. There were some more wires pulled for electrical, and... not much else. We are still without a complete roof and some of the wiring was still not completed. We are still without the double door leading out to the deck on the first floor. I imagine this delays dry wall installation, too.
I expressed my frustrations to the builder. He addressed them all: wiring and HVAC should pretty much wrap up with the rough-ins this week (hopefully), and the roof should be completed (hopefully). Apparently the supplier had an up-tick in orders, so that delayed the metal roofing we are putting in over the front porch. As for the double door, it seems we have been shipped the wrong door twice.
So assuming all the above it corrected, then we get inspections. Then the insulation and dry-wall go in. The cabinet guy told us last week that they may need the drywall taped and mudded, as well as a possible primer coat. Not sure why there are questions around that, honestly.
I also asked the builder about the tile. We are in a position to get a very good price on tile next week. We just need to know square footage to buy for. He set up a meeting with me and the tile guy for this coming Friday to go over that.
We are supposed to get more rain, so there will likely be more delays in getting the roof, hence drywall, in. The roof was supposed to be done last week, which means we may be a couple more weeks behind. And it feels like it. At work, several people have asked me in the last 10-days or so how the house is going. My response has been--and will probably be for this week--we're waiting on the roof to be done.
