No way it's the end of the month now...

Dawn and I took the kids out Saturday to see what had happened over the last week, since I was out of town for work.

What I can say is that, seeing what has been accomplished in the last month versus what needs to be done in the next week, I know there is no way it's getting done in the next 7-days.

Anyway, a simple list of what we noticed:

  • It appears the final paint coats have been done, though some touch-ups and detail work still need to be done
  • The brackets for the railing going down the steps to the basement are in place (but the railing is not done
  • Tile Guy #2 was there installing the shower tile. No grout downstairs, in the master bath, boys' bath, or laundry room yet, though.
  • It appears most of the doors have been painted (see pic below).
  • The slide has arrived, though it is still in pieces in the garage.
  • Most of the light fixtures were delivered and are in boxes in the garage.
  • No more progress on electrical or HVAC, and it seems some of the tile for the kitchen are still in customs
  • The individual accent walls in each of the boys' rooms has been painted.
  • The breakfast nook accent walls are done.
  • The room off the entrance (eventual closet?) has been painted the same as the breakfast nook. Unfortunately it was not supposed to be painted--it should have been the stairwell going up to the attic--but whatever.

When we got home I texted Rusty asking for a realistic time frame, positing that I was fairly confident the house would not be move-in ready by the end of next week. This morning he stated Duke Energy was at fault, in that we are still waiting on them to come out and hook up permanent service to the house. I am pretty sure that was supposed to happen this last week. Anyway, he said roughly two-weeks once the power was done. One of the last things to be done is finishing the flooring, and that will take 4-days, and nothing else can be done during that time frame. Then he said it may be closer to 3-weeks out. Yay.
