A pretty big one--that I won't account for in the costs below--was getting our current house up to par to put it on the market. When you have kids, things scuff the walls, get spilled on the carpet, and so on.
We paid a company to do things like fix the door leading to the garage (long story), paint the downstairs interior, paint the exterior, and some other minor things. The painting was, well, shall we say, less than desirable? We actually ran out of Post-It notes at one point where we were marking places that needed correcting. The color was wrong, there were drips all over the place--I could go on and on.
Anyway, that is in the past now. Though we do still need to re-carpet the upstairs.
Next month I am taking a week off work to do "house stuff". Part of that entails getting a storage unit and moving our now-full garage to the storage facility. That should be a fun week.
We're shooting for the new year to get the house on the market. It has slipped several months from when Dawn originally wanted it, but these things happen.
I also get people at work asking "So when you moving into your new house?" or "Hey, is your house about done?". I have to remind them that we had not planned on breaking ground until next year.
Then I secretly wish it was all done with already.
I'll try and be a little better with updates, but really, there isn't a lot going on right now.
