Lights and mold

So a lot of back and forth the last two days.

We went out to the house yesterday (Sunday) with the boys to check on progress. The main thing completed was the stairs off the deck and the gutters. Some general cleaning up, but that seems about it. The rock on the front porch, which I had seen earlier, is almost done.

However, something that HAS been working overtime: mold.

We have seen the floor in the basement appearing damp, especially when we were priming and painting down there in the past. The concrete always appears darker along some walls, and it is damp to the touch. Anyway, there are small tufts of black mold in several places, especially in the future LEGO room and in that general area where little sunlight reaches, though it was in the bedroom, too. It is worth noting the only places where the mold it appearing is along the baseboard molding and the doors, all places where we did not paint using the Killz stuff. Also, the molding has bowed out in several places.

A quick call to Rusty from Dawn, though, and Rusty says he will fix it, and that it is due to the moisture in the basement (duh). The hvac going in (when does that happen?) should take care of that since the humidity will go down. We'll see. See the King of Queens episode "Steve Moscow" just to see how quickly mold can get out of hand, Captain Superman. This all implies that we will have to run the basement unit year-round now, I guess.

Spread some of that on my cracker

This morning we went by King Electric. We had to verify the diameter of the pendant lights over the bar as well as take a second look at the lights we picked out. It's hard to believe we first went out there February 3rd. We swapped out a few things, crossed some things off the list, and added a thing here and there. For the most part, we are done with lighting. All we need to get are the fluorescent lights (Lowes) and one for the foyer.

On the way back from King, we stopped by the storage unit to get out a few fixtures we already had from the old house and dropped them off at the new house. Rusty seemed kind of rushed so we didn't stay long. Maybe because he has 3-weeks before we are supposed to be done. His crew was all in the garage. Three guys working on the ceiling access door in the garage.

We did see the stone masons there putting the rock around the fireplace. They are doing some weird vertical orientation that Dawn liked more than me, but I didn't object strong enough to make them change it.

Also, quick update from earlier. Sears did deliver everything as planned. Not sure why the email stuff was wrong, but it's there.
